ABOUT MAX…

Max Sherman has dedicated his life to education, agriculture, and community service. For 35 years, he taught Agriculture, Welding, and Biology at Tillamook and Canby High Schools, mentoring hundreds of students into successful technical and agricultural careers. His students earned over 75 State FFA Degrees, more than 10 American Degrees, and over $300,000 in scholarships under his leadership. A National Finalist for the FFA Agri-Science Teacher of the Year and Tillamook County’s Educator of the Year, Max built nationally recognized programs that connected Oregon students with peers in Namibia, Cameroon, Rwanda, Swaziland, and Kenya.

Beyond the classroom, Max has been deeply involved in service and leadership. He’s served on the Oregon FFA Board of Directors, as a legislative representative for Oregon’s vocational agriculture teachers, and as a Tillamook Farm Bureau delegate and legislative affairs representative. Max and his wife Lynda — also an educator — have been married for 47 years. Together, they continue to serve their community through teaching, farming, and providing food for local families in need. Guided by faith, integrity, and hard work, Max is committed to restoring trust and common sense to Oregon’s leadership.

For 35 years, Max Sherman taught Agriculture, Welding, and Biology in Oregon’s public schools, shaping the lives of countless students with practical skills, real-world lessons, and genuine care for their success. His decades in the classroom taught him the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and the need for schools to focus on the basics — not bureaucracy or politics.

That experience drives his campaign today: Max knows firsthand what teachers need to succeed, what students need to learn, and how education can open doors for families and communities. As a lifelong educator, he’s ready to bring that same commitment to accountability, opportunity, and common sense to Salem.

Educator for 35 years

As a lifelong farmer, Max Sherman understands the value of hard work, stewardship, and community. He and his wife Lynda operate a small farm where they grow produce and raise poultry — much of which they donate to local families, churches, and food pantries.

Beyond farming, Max continues to mentor young people, teaching agricultural skills, welding, and food preservation to students and homeschool families across the county. His deep roots in Oregon’s agricultural community keep him grounded in the realities facing working families and small businesses. In this race, Max brings that same hands-on, problem-solving approach to leadership — practical, honest, and focused on helping his neighbors thrive.

Husband of 47 years

Max and his wife Lynda have shared 47 years of marriage grounded in faith, hard work, and service — values that define both their lives and Max’s campaign. As lifelong educators, they’ve dedicated themselves to helping others learn, grow, and succeed, whether in the classroom or out in the community. Together, they volunteer with organizations like Rotary, support local churches, and lend a hand to seniors and families in need.

Their partnership is built on compassion, integrity, and commitment — the same qualities Max will bring to Salem. In a time when trust in public service is fading, Max and Lynda’s lifelong example of teamwork and giving back reminds us that keeping your word and caring for your neighbors never go out of style.
